Question by Sweetie: Why can’t I find a new job?
I’ve been posting/ mailing my resume out for months and no one has called me back. (I usually look in the newspaper and send it how they want but usually it doesn’t give a company name so it’s not like you can call and check on your resume status.) I have a decent resume, how come I can’t seem to find a new job? Does anybody have any tips?

Good question girl. I can’t either.
If you go to your local job center they will help you improve your resume, and they also may be able to find a job for you. Chances are if nobody is calling you back, either your resume is unimpressive or you just aren’t qualified for the positions you’re applying for. I think the job center is your best bet, they can help you out. Good luck.
When you are apllying don’t post go and hand in your CV in person to show you have real interest
I’ve been there. It’s all about persistence and dilligence.
What I’d suggest would be: look into some temp agencies and look into temp-to-hire roles, leading to salaried roles. They aren’t always the most glamorous, but it is a way to get into a salaried role and get your foot in the door.
Good luck.
I know that feeling … I’ve been trying for 6 months …. The only thing I’ve gotten was an interview for Playboy Store where I got told I had nice tits … The job market is going down right now so is the economy … Both effect each other …. So I wouldn’t be expecting much now
Perhaps you are asking for too much money or applying to the wrong types of jobs…i.e. ones asking for more experience than you actually have? W/O seeing your resume and what jobs you are applying for, its a little difficult to give you an exact answer. You might try asking friends for a look at their resume. Perhaps its just the format or the paper?
Tough it out until we are a few months into our next’s President’s first term in office. If he is not Republican, you should be able to find a good job within months because the economy will get a boost!
YOUR SUBJECT AND YOUR INTEREST ?
What are you looking for and what are you wanting to do?
What do you want to accomplish with the job?
Email me with your address and I can probably suggest something for you!
Good luck! keep your head up!
Read “What Color is Your Parachute?” Its easy reading and it’ll get you a job. Mailing resumes doesn’t do it.

do you have a weird first name? i have seen resumes thrown into the trash without so much as a glance when the applicant’s name is something outlandish, like….Qurtarsha, or Dartaniun
I struggled for almost a year, I took temp jobs while waiting for “the one” but nothing ever panned out. I finally decided to go to college, since I never went in the first place. It will get me even higher then I would have been just finding a job without education. I was in the same boat, no one hardly ever called me and the ones that did call me for an interview usually sent me one of those lovely letters a couple of weeks later, “thank you so much for applying, but you suck and we have picked someone better. Have a nice day!” Know what I mean?
There are several reasons you may not be getting a response to your resume. The jobs to which you are applying may have minimal qualifications that a large population meets so the competition is substantial (i.e. customer service rep, entry level administrative jobs).
The most likely reason is that your resume is not targeted to the jobs. Many recruiting firms and companies use software programs that search incoming resumes for keywords (usually software programs, degree references…). You may want to take your resume to an placement agency and have them review it. They can help structure your resume to get an increased response and will help with the legwork to find positions at no cost to you the job seeker.
i sent out dozen of resume and nothing were in the same boat
On line job sites usually don’t produce results. Same with newspaper ads.
I’d have someone take a look at yor resume and cover letter, preferably a career professional. There are county and city agencies that do this for free, and will give classes on job hunting–they also post job openings.
Referrals and word of mouth are your best bet for finding a job. You can also do “information” interviews.
Call companies and arrange a short 15-30 min. appointment to discuss their company and what opportunities might be available…then ask the person for referrals of other people you can call.
It really depends on what field or job type that you are pursuing. Is the job market flourishing or not for your area?
Temp or staffing agencies are good, too-just select one that doesn’t charge a fee.
Do an internship or volunteer in your field to build your resume. Good luck!
Firstly if you are responding to Jobs that dont even show the Company name then that is a concern.
I would stop doing that and deal with companies or employment agents that do have their name on the Ad.
When you have sent a resume follow up with a phone call a few days later.
Ask them if they require any more information or how the resume will progress through their system.
Sometmes it is not a bad move to personally deliver your resume, it gives you a chance to make an impression and also look at the workplace,
you can get a feel on how you may fit in and also exactly what it is they do. Not bad info to be prepared with at an interview.
Stupid point I know but have you checked ALL your contact details are current on your resume, a simple mistake in a phone number can be the reason for no phone calls.
You would be surprised how easy it is to do and how often it doesnt get picked up.
job hunting is tough work , persistance, aptience and diligence will ultimately pay off. Good Luck !!
