    Do not apply for any gas card. It is currently very unlikely that anyone who does not already have credit will be approved for any card other than a “secured” card. Deposit money at a bank that offers “secured” credit cards to depositors, obtain a “secured” credit card from that bank, and use it to build your credit. After you have done so, then, and only then, apply for a regular credit card. Do not bother applying for a gas card at that point; once you have built your credit and qualify for a regular credit card, you can use it to buy gas.

    It’s better to just get a card through your bank than to get store cards or gas cards which tend to carry a much higher interest rate. You think you’re getting perks by signing up for the cards that reward you, but you end up paying for those rewards in annual fees, interest and random other fees.
    You can get a small bank card to start out. If you’re a student they have student cards. Usually it’s a good idea to start with a card that has a small limit. $500 or less. Only spend the amount you can pay off in full every month, so basically whatever you would normally charge to debit or use cash on instead charge your card, but then pay it off immediately when you’re paid in full.

    Logically you apply to the company that has stations near your home or work.
