I have a BA in Philosophy and have a background in theatre (but don’t want to do theatre professionally), confident and enjoy speaking with others face to face, and strong computer software skills as well as HTML and graphic design (all self taught, no formal education or experience). I’m moderately talented in most things and [...]
I received a B.A. degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and I’m looking for employment that is more related to psychology. I currently work part time at a bank and I’m very dissatisfied with the work because I’m not interested in it and I feel as if it is not remotely related to what I’m trying to [...]
I really do think the amount of money our government is spending will get us out of the current mess. If the underlying problems remain, which they likely will, we will not be able to assume anymore debt, and the whole system will collapse. Does this not seem like a valid concern?

I am a 21 year old student and am looking for my first full-time job. I am re-locating to the Bronx from Long Island in a few weeks in order for me to be much closer to my school. I have never had difficulty finding a job before, but for some reason or another, I [...]
Call your hospital and ask for the cash price. It varies considerably. My cousin and his GF have a 2 year old and prepaid $6,000. That included everything. If she would have had a c-section, the charges (for the hospital) would not have been more. Community hospitals are often cheaper (about $3-4,000). Birth Centers cost [...]

You need to have two separate bank accounts so you can monitor your expenses. Also, it would be good that you and your partner do some accounting on your income and expenses once every 5 months. Example: Your income is $2000 per month Your expeses is $2700 per month So you’re in debt almost $700 [...]

To reduce our debt, has anyone considered a Head Tax? A Head Tax of $100 – $150 per year on every living American resident (not citizen) who, on December 31, 2009, has a head. What’s so bad about this idea, besides people not wanting to pay the tax? Would it affect immigration inflow? Businesses?

Yes. You can withdraw, but that costs money. I would recommend that you borrow from your 401(k) instead. You will pay yourself interest, but you will also avoid penalties. The catch is that you must repay yourself within five years. Since I don’t know more about your total situation, I cannot offer any more advice [...]

Normally the COBRA subsidy kicked in right away but with new provisions in the stimulus bill newly laid-off people have been left with the full cost of COBRA, and been told they will be reimbursed “Later after the kinks have been worked out” What are your thoughts?
